Happy New Year!
Time Always Wins
How time flies! Clichéd but true—Uncle Time,
Ably carrying us on a wild ride—
Playing wicked games with us vain mortals
Plotting against us as he whizzes by—
Yet he gives us space to make our own mark
Nudging us to seize each day—Uncle Time—
Exhorting us to work, eat, sleep and play,
Watching us until we finish our race.
Yesterday’s warm summer dreams fading fast
Ending that story we struggled to write—
A trail of breadcrumbs along the paths we leave
Reminding our descendants that we lived
Trying to carve out the best paths for them
Out of the forests of tall, tangled trees
Yearning they see solutions not problems
And outpace us as they run their own race
Untangling the mysteries we left unsolved
